Real Cricket Score

The sport of cricket attracts plenty of eyeballs across the world and is particularly popular in the Asian sub-continent, home to more than one fifth of the world's population. Cricket's marquee tournament, the World Cup, is only next to the Football World Cup and the Summer Olympics in terms of viewers across the world. We at RealCricketScore.com love the game as much as you do and we've tried our best to make this site a one stop resource for live cricket scores and cricket news.

Cricket Test Matches and International cricket games

Because cricket happens to be a relatively long game (the shortest format of the game lasts three hours), not all of us might be able to keep abreast of the game on television because of work commitments. It is here that we at RealCricketScore.com step in with our wide coverage of cricket scores and games. We also have the latest cricket news and cricket rankings available on our site and keep them regularly updated.

The oldest and the most demanding format of the game is Test Cricket. It is played over five days and demands tremendous application, skill and patience from batsmen and bowlers alike. Fortunes can swing wildly from session to session, thereby needing both teams to stay focused all the time. Test cricket is normally played as a bilateral series between nations and the biggest of them all is the Ashes between England and Australia, which attracts packed crowds and plenty of media coverage across both countries. RealCricketScore will provide you with the latest Ashes cricket scores and Ashes cricket news from 2013 and beyond. There are plans by the ICC to introduce a Test Championship from 2017 onwards.

Be it test cricket at the iconic Lords in London, or the noisy Eden Gardens in Kolkata, or picturesque Newlands in Cape Town, we'll have all the latest cricket scores available as they happen for your viewing.

Only ten nations across the world play test cricket, but it is still considered the truest form of the game and getting test status for countries is an event of great significance in their cricketing history as it reflects their coming of age in the game. The last team to be awarded test status was Bangladesh back in 2000.

There are plenty of cricket players across the world, with the sport being especially popular in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England and Australia. RealCricketScore.com provides you with the latest information on current great cricket players like Alastair Cook, Hashim Amla, Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Clarke, Jacques Kallis and their achievements.

After tests, we have the One Day Internationals, or ODI's as they're popularly known. ODI's were first played in 1971 and the teams wear coloured clothing, unlike the whites they don in test cricket. An ODI can be an only day or a day and night affair and lasts 50 overs per side. The ODI format contains innovations like power-plays and restrictions on the number of fielders outside the 30 yard circle to make the game more interesting and strategy oriented.

One day internationals, like tests, are normally bilateral affairs. However we do have tri-series like the Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia that feature three teams competing against each other in a league styled format. There is also the World Cup (quadrennial) and Champions Trophy (biennial) that sees all major teams across the world compete for the right to be called World Champions.

The ODI format is very popular and the World Cup, as mentioned above, draws the maximum eyeballs. For example, a whopping 1 billion viewers across the world followed the 2011 World Cup semifinal between India vs Pakistan, with both participating nations virtually brought to a standstill during the game.

The last, shortest and youngest format, also the fastest growing, is T20, which sees two sides playing 20 overs each. Because of its relatively short length and emphasis on explosive hitting, T20 has been successful in attracting newer nations to the beautiful game. 20-20 is also the format which has seen the greatest number of upsets for minnows over major nations, with many games going right down to the wire instead of being one sided and boring.

The big daddy of T20 tournaments across the world is the Indian Premier League (IPL), which features top players from virtually every cricket playing nation in the world. RealCricketScore.com has live cricket scores from games involving Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and all other teams.

The T20 format also has a Champions League, modeled on European soccer's tournament with the same name, that sees champion T20 sides from India, Australia, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa battle it out. Like the ODI format, T20 also has its own World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of the game, maintains rankings for best bowler, batsman, all-rounder and team for all three formats. You can see updated cricket rankings for all formats at RealCricketScore.com
