The Chennai Super Kings have had a couple of successive matches against the
Bangalore team leading up to the final. They batted first in the first game,
and scored a paltry total before the score was chased down easily thanks to
the Gayle power. On the other hand, in the first qualifier, the Chennai Super
Kings fielded first, and despite getting Gayle early, had a target of more than
170 set by the Bangalore side thanks to a 44-ball 70 by Virat Kohli.
After a slow start, the Super Kings were able to overcome the target with great
This will be an exciting match and not too many can complain about the choice
of the finalists. They have been the best two teams in the competition. Bangalore
have a much better batting line-up than their bowling and even without Gayle,
there are likes of Kohli and AB de Villiers. Mayank Agarwal has got form
while Saurabh Tiwary is looking to explode in the encounter after a poor run
in the tournament.
On the other hand, the Bangalore bowling isn't what one would think would be
for a side that has reached the final. Daniel Vettori is their best bowler by
far, but the rest of them have not been able to do a lot. The inclusion of Syed
Mohammad will be useful given that the Super Kings have not played him before,
but Zaheer Khan needs to come back to form and bowl four accurate overs if he
needs his side to have a chance against the mighty Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai will rely on Michael Hussey to bat through the innings but more
importantly, they will want Murali Vijay to strike form. If Vijay can do that,
the side will be greatly blessed, given that he can hit the ball fairly a long
distance. On the other hand, the bowling works well in packs, especially after
the first six overs and will be the trump card for the Super Kings.
